LEONARD COHEN Manchester Opera House

Last night we went to see Leonard Cohen, which was a pretty big deal on account of he's our favourite singer-songwriter of all time and somebody we never thought we'd get to see. We were lucky enough to have front row seats (thanks to the Guardian) and clandestine photo-ops (thanks to Laetitia's Dad buying her a new camera and Laetitia's bravery in the face of officious live nation employees enforcing their no photo policy). He played for about three hours, and was as commanding and as funny as we expected. He was also as humble and gracious as any performer you could imagine.

THE DWUMS THE DWUMS THE DWUMS

Laetitia's Dad found a drum set at the tip. The rubbish tip, not some jazz hang-out. And so we've been playing them. We've also been watching how it's done.

That man in the photograph is Sonny Payne. I was trying for a while to make it so that you click on the photo and are transported to watch a video of him playing. I failed, so click on Sonny Payne or how it's done instead.

Oh, also, there is an amazing book/zine for people who want to learn drums, called 'the DIY guide to drums' written by the drummer from KICKBALL

THE REALEST or fifteen minutes

this is a photograph of a 'zine we made, January 2007. It is called 'THE REALEST or fifteen minutes. It was launched with a party at Islington Mill in Salford. Two of our favourite bands played; FORMER BULLIES and THE ROYAL WE. Both are kind of not around anymore but the music, the joy, the memories remain.
Volume I Issue I is also not around anymore, we sold out. Issue II is on the way very, very soon and will feature, exclusively, the drawings of Neil Robbins. Then we're going to make Issue III and then we are going to make ISSUE IV and so on, and much more quickly. We will reprint Issue I too.

YES

We are making a book-let or chap book with Lucy Jones and Nicholas Ainsworth. It does not yet have a name. The two of them made one already and it is sincerely one of the most beautiful things we've ever seen. It is called 'Jason & Richard' and consists of twenty-something (21) stories &  5 illustrations.  I think if you email downaboutit@hotmail.com or lucymountpleasant@googlemail.com, and arrange to pay them some money, they will send you one.
